Dear colleagues,

I am a project manager for Vitaes ‘What do research staff do next?’ research project which we have launched in collaboration with Naturejobs. The project aims to bring insight into new careers of formal postdoctoral researchers and other former academic research staff.

I am seeking your help in dissemination of this important project.

Our aim is to develop a better understanding of how researchers transition from research posts at European universities and public research institutes to career paths in other employment sectors. This project will reveal researchers left academic research and how they achieved this.

Our mission is to create a valuable resource of information for researchers looking for careers outside academic environment, which would help them to make an informed career decision.

One of the challenges of this project is contacting former higher education researchers. We believe that BCS has very good connection with former academic researchers and that you can disseminate this project to the right audience.

The link to the research survey is www.surveymonkey.com/s/wdrsdn

- this could be perhaps forwarded to former academic researchers and to anyone that you think would be interested in the project or helpful to promote it. We use #postacstory to amplify through Twitter.

More information is available on the Vitae and Naturejobs websites:

https://www.vitae.ac.uk/impact-and-evaluation/what-do-researchers-do/WDRSDN

We hope that you will join us in promotion of this project and I will be happy to answer any questions or provide more details about about the project.

Thank you very much.
