EPSRC ICT Pioneers

EPSRC ICT Pioneers

by Academy Admin

For the past two years the Academy has been one of the major sponsors of EPSRC's annual ICT Pioneers competition along with organisations such as BT, HP and ARM.

The competition is aimed at finding the next UK ICT pioneer to join the likes of Ada Lovelace, Charles Babbage and Sir Tim Berners-Lee through a competition to recognise some of the exceptional UK PhD students in ICT-related topics. In particular the awards aim to recognise exceptional PhD students whose research has the potential to be exploited for the benefit of the UK.

2014 competition

The ICT Pioneers competition aims to recognise and celebrate exceptional UK PhD students who have demonstrated the commercial and potential impact of their research to business. This year's competition was comprised of 3 categories with a winner chosen in each. Each winner then provided a 3 minute 'elevator pitch' on stage to compete for a bonus prize.
