The BCS Academy Research Symposium took place on 11-12 April 2012 at the University of York's superb Ron Cooke Hub. Co-located with the CPHC Conference on 10 April, this event also included the 2012 Karen Spärck Jones Lecture.
This third biennial Computer Science research conference in York was in association with UKCRC (UK Computing Research Committee) and brought together computing science researchers from across the UK to talk about research challenges, policy and strategy.
Highlights included invited talks by leading international researchers, talks by research council funders and government policy makers and two parallel workshop sessions - on writing impact statements for the REF and on writing research grant applications.
